Knees collapsing inward under load (valgus) is extremely common, especially as fatigue sets in. It usually isn't a knee problem at all — it's a hip and foot problem.
The three usual causes
- Weak or under-active glute medius
- Feet that collapse inward (loss of arch)
- Simply moving too fast to control the descent
The fixes
- Cue 'spread the floor' — screw your feet outward
- Add banded lateral work to wake up the glutes
- Slow the eccentric so you can steer the knee
OurFit watches for valgus on both sides independently and shows you the exact rep where it appeared.
